The Democratic Autonomous Administration of the Region of North and East Syria issued a statement in which it supported the UN Security Council\u2019s presidential statement condemning the crimes and violations committed against civilians in Suwayda. The statement read:<\/p>\n
At a time when Syria is going through a critical and sensitive stage, the UN Security Council, on August 10, issued a presidential statement condemning the crimes and violations committed against civilians in Suwayda, affirming the need to protect all Syrians without discrimination, and to ensure full, safe, and unhindered delivery of humanitarian aid.<\/p>\n
While the Democratic Autonomous Administration welcomes, commends, and values the statement, we express our solidarity with all Syrian regions that have been subjected to violations, and we declare our full readiness to contribute to any international or UN effort to protect civilians and to ensure fair accountability and the prosecution of perpetrators in accordance with international standards.<\/p>\n
The Security Council\u2019s emphasis on Resolution 2254 and its principles constitutes a comprehensive framework that has no alternative for achieving a genuine political transition in Syria. It ensures the participation of all active forces on the ground \u2014 including the Democratic Autonomous Administration and its military forces, the Syrian Democratic Forces \u2014 as they are a principal party in the Syrian equation, in combating terrorism, and in protecting stability. The Democratic Autonomous Administration believes that any political process that excludes active forces representing the will of millions of Syrians will be incomplete, threatened with failure, and will have dire consequences.<\/p>\n
The Democratic Administration sees that the statement issued by the Security Council is in line with the provisions of the March 10 Agreement between Damascus and the Syrian Democratic Forces, as well as with the outcomes of the \u201cConference for the Unity of Stance\u201d of the components of North and East Syria, held on the 8th of this month in the city of Hasakah. Accordingly, the Democratic Autonomous Administration expresses its full readiness to participate in implementing the contents of International Resolution 2254, including the formation of an inclusive and credible transitional governing body, halting all military operations and threats from any party, drafting a consensual new constitution, forming a transitional government that includes all components, continuing the fight against terrorism, and returning those forcibly displaced to their original areas of residence in a safe manner, guaranteeing access to them, leading up to free and fair elections under UN supervision.<\/p>\n
The Democratic Autonomous Administration also affirms the importance of the United Nations playing a central and effective role at this stage, through sponsoring a comprehensive national dialogue based on the conferences following the fall of the regime, bringing together all Syrian parties without exception, to ensure the building of a democratic, pluralistic, and unified Syria that respects the rights of all its citizens and fulfills their aspirations for freedom, peace, and justice.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
