Under the slogan “From Seyfo and Simele to Khabur… Our Resistance Endures and Continues,” the Coordination and Consultation Committee of Our National Parties in Syria commemorated the 10th anniversary of the genocide against the Assyrian villages of Khabur. The event took place on Sunday evening at the hall of Saint Church in Tel Tamr.
The commemoration was attended by representatives of our people’s parties, including the Syriac Union Party, the Assyrian Democratic Party, and the Assyrian Democratic Organization, alongside representatives of Beth Nahrain National Council institutions, officials from the Autonomous Administration, military and security forces, independent figures, and a large gathering of our people who traveled from across the Jazira region to participate.
The event began with a welcoming speech in both Eastern Syriac and Arabic, followed by a moment of silence in honor of all martyrs.
The Assyrian national anthem was then performed, after which Father Boghos Ishaya led prayers for the souls of the fallen heroes.
The series of speeches commenced with addresses from the Assyrian Democratic Party and the Assyrian Democratic Organization, followed by a speech from the Syriac Union Party delivered by the party’s Co-President in Syria, Shamiram Danho. She emphasized the great sacrifices made by our heroic martyrs in their resistance against the brutal terrorist invasion of our people’s villages in Khabur. Danho highlighted the unity of all communities in the liberation of Khabur, which served as a living example of the Autonomous Administration model, where every component contributed and sacrificed its sons as martyrs for Khabur’s freedom.
The commemoration also featured patriotic songs inspired by the occasion, and concluded with attendees lighting candles in the church courtyard in honor of the fallen martyrs.
