ZALIN, Syria – In order to discuss the situation of Syriac-Assyrian people in Syria, a 14-member parliamentary delegation from the UK and other European nations visited the headquarters of the Syriac Union Party (SUP) in Syria.
The delegation included UK Conservative Party MPs Matt Vickers and John Lamont, Lord David Watts, Member of European Parliament (MEP) from Estonia Jaak Madison (Estonian Center Party, EK), MEP from Germany Lukas Sieper (Party of Press, PdF), Member of the London Assembly Unmesh Desai (Labour), Chief of Staff to Mr. Vickers MP Niall Innes, and Assistant to MEP Madison Alari Soikmets.
Also in the delegation were APPG-Syria representative Chris Doyle, Office Manager to MP of the UK Andrew Snowden (Conservative) Jack Gebhard, and Assistants to MEP from Germany Martin Sonneborn (Die PARTEI, The PARTY) Dustin Hoffman and Chris Schiller.
The delegation was received by SUP Foreign Relations Official Nazira Goreya, along with SUP Officials Robel Bahho and Gabriel Shamoun, Maria Hanna and Mariana Issa.
They discussed the situation of Christian people in North and East Syria and Syria in general.
The delegation expressed its readiness to provide support and assistance to the Christian people in areas of their presence in Syria.
They stressed the importance of preserving cultural and religious diversity in Syria, as well as supporting peace and stability efforts in areas witnessing a gradual return to security and stability.
