On the occasion of Easter, the Syriac Union Party issued a statement congratulating all members of the Syriac Assyrian people and the Christian community in Syria and around the world, wishing that this holiday brings joy, prosperity, and peace to everyone.
The statement explained that Syria is currently experiencing a new phase following the fall of Assad’s regime after 14 years of revolution against it. This phase holds great importance for building a strong foundation to rebuild Syria and ensure a dignified life for all Syrians.
The statement also highlighted that while the Syriac Assyrian and Christian people in Syria are celebrating Easter, they face unstable circumstances and fears about the present and the future, which remains uncertain. However, they possess the will and determination to live freely and with dignity in their homeland alongside all Syrians, striving for their goals and vision for a new Syria that embraces pluralism and genuine partnership among all its components.
The statement pointed out that the Syriac Union Party seeks to unite efforts within the Syriac people and with all Syrian parties and active forces to defend their objectives and build a Syria for all Syrians, ensuring individual and collective rights and freedoms for all segments of Syria’s society. It emphasized the importance of fostering democracy, human rights, and peaceful coexistence through collective efforts. Together, hand in hand, the statement concluded, we will build our community, our entity, and our homeland.
