Syriac Union Party Participates in the Commemoration of the Armenian Genocide in al-Hasak
Under the auspices of Bishop Makar Ashkarian, Bishop of the Armenian Orthodox Diocese of Aleppo and its environs, and presided over by the Deputy Bishop Archimandrite Levon Yeghiayan, the subcommittee of St. John the Baptist Church for the Armenian Orthodox held a special event on Sunday to mark the 110th anniversary of the Armenian Genocide. The event took place at the Armenian Club for the Armenian Orthodox community in Al-Hasakah.
The ceremony was attended by Father Arshak Alajajian, a delegation from Armenian religious, social, cultural, and educational organizations, and a large gathering of community members. A delegation representing the Syriac Union Party also participated, including the co-presidents of the party’s local branch, Mr. Fadi Dawie and Mrs. Maha Shabo, as well as Mr. Armin Mardo, member of the party’s Relations Office, and branch council members Mrs. Sawsan Abdul-Ahad, Mrs. Khatoon Mardo, and Mr. Adnan Elias
The event began with prayers at the memorial monument, followed by a candlelight march to the club’s headquarters. Attendees were then welcomed, and the ceremony included a moment of silence and the performance of the Armenian national anthem.
During the event, several speeches inspired by the occasion were delivered, alongside various segments that featured singing, poetry, and traditional Armenian folklore performances
