ZALIN, North and East Syria — In a moving display of solidarity, the Progressive Syriac Youth Union held a candlelit march Wednesday evening in the North and East city of Zalin (Qamishli) to honor the martyrs of the terrorist bombing at Mar Elias Greek Orthodox Church in the Douileh neighborhood of Daramsuq (Damascus).
The march, attended by a large crowd from the local Christian people, began at the Sayfo Memorial Roundabout and proceeded toward the Church of the Virgin Mary. Participants carried crosses and signs denouncing the brutal attack, chanting slogans condemning all acts of terror aimed at destabilizing the presence and future of Syria’s Christian population.
The vigil concluded with a moment of silence outside the Church of the Virgin Mary, where Subhi Malke delivered a statement on behalf of the Syriac Youth Union. The speech reaffirmed the community’s resilience and called for unity in the face of violence.
The event served not only as a tribute to the fallen, but also as a defiant assertion of hope and identity amid tragedy.
