At the kind invitation of the Democratic Union Party, the Syriac Union Party participated in the Fifth Syrian Forum, “Manifesto of Peace and Democratic Society for Building a Modern Syria”, which was held in the city of Hasakeh. The party was represented by Mr. Simon Jirjis, member of the Executive Board of the Syriac Union Party.
The forum included several topics, the most prominent of which was “The General Political Situation and Possible Agendas and Projects in the Middle East Region”, delivered by Mr. Hussein Othman, Co-Chair of the Autonomous Administration of North and East Syria.
The second topic was entitled “Syria After the Fall of the Baath Regime, the Current Situation and Challenges”, delivered by Dr. Abeer Salman, Doctor in International Relations and Political Activist.
The third topic was about “The Importance of Leader Öcalan’s Proposal for Peace and Democratic Society”, delivered by Mr. Aldar Khalil, member of the Co-Presidency Body of the Democratic Union Party.
The fourth and final topic was “The Stage of Peace and Democratic Society and Prospects for the Syrian Solution”, delivered by Ms. Amina Ossi, Spokesperson of the Relations Committee in Kongra Star.
The forum concluded with the reading of a final statement that included a number of recommendations, the most prominent of which were:
Commitment to the March 10 agreement signed between the Commander of the Syrian Democratic Forces and the Prime Minister of the Transitional Government.
Calling for an inclusive national dialogue bringing together Syrians of all affiliations as a genuine path toward a just and lasting solution to the crisis.
Calling for a comprehensive national conference for all Syrian components and a new social contract that guarantees the rights of all Syrians.
Adherence to the principle of decentralization as a strategic option to ensure the participation of all components in decision-making and the protection of their rights.
Calling on the guarantor states (France, the United States, Britain) to assume their responsibilities and support a comprehensive negotiating path that includes all Syrian parties.
