The Syriac Union Party in Syria issued a statement to public opinion, which read as follows:
We received with deep sorrow and grief the news of the targeting of a group of young men from the town of ‘Anaz in the Wadi al-Nasara area of Homs Governorate by unknown assailants, which resulted in the martyrdom of the two young men, Wissam Mansour and Shafiq Mansour.
As we mourn, with hearts filled with pain, the martyrs of this cowardly attack, we affirm that this horrific criminal act is a blatant violation of human and national values, and it targets the diverse and cohesive Syrian social fabric.
We hold the Syrian transitional government fully responsible for this incident, whether for its failure to protect civilians or for leaving safe areas such as Wadi al-Nasara vulnerable to danger and security chaos.
We also warn of the gravity of targeting predominantly Christian areas, as this constitutes a dangerous indicator of a direct threat to civil peace and social diversity in Syria. We consider silence regarding these crimes to be an indirect form of complicity with the perpetrators.
We call on the concerned authorities to uncover the perpetrators and hold them accountable immediately, and to take the necessary measures to protect civilians in all Syrian regions without discrimination. We also appeal to national forces to stand against these violations and work to prevent their recurrence.
Mercy for the martyrs of the homeland, a speedy recovery for the wounded, and full solidarity with the people of the town of ‘Anaz in this great traged
