QABRE HEWORE, North and East Syria — On the occasion of the 26th anniversary of the martyrs of the Bethnahrain National Council (Mawtbo Umthoyo D’Bethnahrin, MUB), the martyrs of the struggle and the path of freedom for the Syriac (Chaldean–Assyrian–Aramean) people and the affirmation of their national rights in their historical homeland, Bethnahrin, the institutions of the MUB in the town of Qabre Hewore (Qahtaniyah) organized a commemoration at the Martyrs’ Cemetery.
The event was attended by representatives of political, security, military, cultural, educational, relief, and media institutions, as well as by the Association of Syriac-Assyrian Martyrs’ Families and a number of the martyrs’ relatives.
The ceremony began with a minute of silence in tribute to the souls of the martyrs of the national struggle — those who sacrificed their lives and watered the land of Bethnahrin with their pure blood — to secure safety and stability for the Syriac people and to affirm their rights in their ancestral land.
Statements were delivered on behalf of The Syriac Union Party’s (Gabo d’Ḥuyodo Suryoyo, SUP) and the Association of Syriac-Assyrian Martyrs’ Families, addressing the meaning of martyrdom and the importance of the sacrifices made by the martyrs of the MUB over the past twenty-six years. The speeches reaffirmed the commitment to continue their path toward achieving the legitimate rights of the Syriac (Chaldean–Assyrian–Aramean) people in their historical homeland, Bethnahrin.
