Syriac Union Party Participates in the Inauguration Ceremony of the Syriac Cultural Association in DamascuA delegation from the Syriac Union Party, represented by Ms. Shirin Khoury and Mr. Raymond Rahal, took part in the inauguration ceremony of the Syriac Cultural Association in Damascus. The event was held on Saturday evening in the “Omayya” Hall at the Cham Hotel in the Syrian capital.
The ceremony was attended by various social and cultural figures, in addition to members of the Syriac-Assyrian community in Damascus and enthusiasts of cultural heritage.
The event was opened by Mr. Ibrahim Admo, the General Director of the Syriac Cultural Association in Syria, and Ms. Ola Al-Ahmar, head of the Damascus office. In their welcoming remarks, they emphasized the importance of establishing the association in supporting cultural activities and preserving the Syriac language and its rich heritage. They affirmed that the association will work to organize regular events aimed at reviving Syriac culture.
The ceremony also featured Syriac folkloric performances presented by the “Yarthutha Folklore Troupe,” including pieces depicting harvest scenes, wheat, and the land. Syriac singer Michela Behnan performed a selection of Syriac songs.
During and after the event, the Syriac Cultural Association in Syria received congratulatory messages from various Syriac institutions and political parties in Beth Nahrain and the diaspora, including a message from the Syriac Union Party in Syria and another from the European Syriac Union.
